well this week was really fast!! so to start it off we all played beach volleyball at this beach volleyball coure in houma for pday and it was a ton of fun and we are going to go do that again today! i went on an exchange in houma with elder mccormies and he is so funny! we had an activity in houma for the missionary efforts and we played volleyball and had some of our investigators show up and play so it was really fun! and i got what we call "trunky papers" it has all the information for my flights home and the schedule for the day before we leave! its crazy to think i only have 17 days left!! but its cool because it is the 17th of october!
thats about it! love yall

Monday, October 10 2016

haha dont worry mom. i have my own countdown. i try not to think about it but it just happens! time is going by so fast!! so this week was pretty cool. we went to nola for ztm and i bore my go home testimony to the zone!! it was really cool because i got to hang out with elder ainge again and i called elder wilson while i was giving my testimony so he can hear it and i cracked a joke during the testimony and heard his stupid laugh and i couldnt help myself and i burst into laughter for like a minute! its getting really hard to stay focused out here. i cant stop thinking about RC and all that stuff! so we went to marias house and taught them about repentance and we decided that it would be better for us to wait for her mom to get ready for baptism as well so we can dunk them together. so we wont have the baptism this week. but we are still working with them. haha there is this guy in our branch who has high functioning autism and last week during confrence when president monson and the twelve walked in he stood up and did the nazi salute whilst saying "heil monson!" "heil the twelve!" and we were dying laughing!! it was hilarious!! good thing it was just the missionaires though. and yesterday during fast and testimony meeting he goes up to bear his testimony and he was like "im sure the missionaries can agree with me here. the people who oppose the prophets dont want me in salt lake because if i was there i would pile drive them into their seats for what they do!" the whole congregation (of 3 people minus the missionaries) couldnt contain themselves! hes a funny guy. well thats about it i think ill talk to yall next week! elder horrocks

Monday, October 3 2016

alright well this week was a pretty cool week! not much happened but i just wanted to let yall know that im still working hard! so last week we had an awesome member with our investigator maria and we talked about baptism and it was such a spiritual lesson!! after the lesson we were telling her about how the lord helps out those who follow his comandments and prepare a way for them and then we asked her to be baptized and she was like... DUH!! so we asked her if she can commit to the 15th of october and she was so excited! also general confrence was like way cool. i think my favorite talk was by linda reeves! i cant really remember any of the talks but i do remember that they were all very good!!! i was hoping that they would have talked about the flooding here and how the helping hands was a big blessing to louisiana but that didnt happen. so maybe they will talk about it in april or something. well thats about it for all this week. not really much to talk about this week. love yall and i hope yall have a good week! here are teh pictures of our fishing extravaganza

Monday, September 26 2016

Wow guys fist off I just want to say I never thought that I would get to this point. I am officially on my last transfer. Secondly congrats to Colby and max! I thought yall were only 5 so I was shocked when I got the baptism invitation haha. Well for this last transfer elder bean got transferred and I am training for my last six weeks wich really helps me stay motivated for the final stretch. But I can't help think about all the stuff I want to do when I get home! So here is a list to get it out of my head. In no particular order. 1 dell taco. I need some value bean and cheese goodness. 2. Mountains. I want to go drive to one and play in the snow. 3. My planes. I want to fly them. 4. Guns. I want to shoot one. 5. Hang out with the fam. And last and most importantly 6. I need mom to scratch my back until my first layer of skin is no longer there. And one more post script. 7. I want to drive the jeep. Now that I got that out of the way. My new companion is elder isrealsen. He us from north Logan and this is his second transfer in the field so "technically" I'm not training him. He is cool. He is really quiet but it's alright. I can get anyone to talk. People say he is a quieter version of me but I'm not sure what I know what that means.. So this week was really cool because for the first time in my entire mission I had an investigator come to church the first Sunday after the initial contact! that's right ladies and gentlemen, we met her on Thursday and she came to church sunday! Her name is Maria and we want her to get baptized before I leave so I can have a baptism in each of my areas. The inly problem is she lives 20 minutes in the opposite direction of the church and she doesn't have a car so the members need to take her. And they all live very close to the church. But let's hope that doesn't stop them! It's so weird being in this position guys. I'm not just the oldest Spanish missionary in the mission but I'm the oldest missionary! as in time wise, there are some old elders here... But that's about it for this week nothing else really. We went fishing today and I caught an alligator gar! Imagine a alligator head on the body of a fish and that's about what it is. I'll try to send the pictures tomorrow at district meeting. Well I love yall so much and can't wait to see yall in six weeks!! Elder horrocks

Tuesday, September 6 2016

okay yall!! this week was a awesome week because we were given the chance to go up to nola for a ztm! it was really cool because i got to see elder caldwell and elder ainge again! those two guys have definately been two of my best friends i have made not just in my mission but in my entire life! one thing i would really like to touch on is the truth behind what nathan taught me. the friencds that i have made on my mission really have been life long. even if i had no "success" in numbers on my mission, i wouldnt change the friends ive made at all. the bonds i have made throught my mission has helped me grow to be a stronger member of the church and has increased my testimony in the gospel more than i ever would have imagined. and elder bean of course. my companion elder bean is one of my favorite missionaries ive met on my entire mission! sorry for the short email. it has been weird with labor day. just wanted to say that i love yall. elder horrocks

Monday, August 29, 2016

okay yall i only have 9 weeks left and it is getting kinda scary!! so just one thing i would like to share is the power of the priesthood! so last week my back was in so much pain i felt like throwing up!! so i asked my comp and the other dudes we live with if they could give me a blessing. and as soon as they put there hands on my head all the pain in my back went away and i felt like i was (as everyone says down in the south) "born again" haha. well yall. i got nothign on my mind for today. work here is slow and the weather is pretty bad and only supposed to get worse! we are going to nola this week for a zone meeting and that will be the last time i see elder caldwell. for he goes home this transfer. so ill send some pics. elder horrocks also shout out to dave allen for being into rc so i will have someone to fly with when i get home. and for being the last person in the family that i physically saw on my mission haha. (talking about the airport in georgia on my way to mexico)

Monday, August 22 2016

well this week was a good one! not really a lot to talk about. the work here is pretty slow because we have to start completely new and we have no clue where to go when it comes to spanish work. we went to the branch presidents house on thursday for dinner and it was pretty fun. they made this realy good mac and cheese casserole thing. elder bean and i are going fishing today with a member so thats goig to be fun, they live on the bayou so we are going to become real coons down here in the deep south! imm a try and get some pictures so ill have some to send home next week!! how were the olympics? i heard michael phelps did pretty good. how was america? its crazy to think i only have 10 weeks left! still going strong though!! love yall! elder horrocks

Monday, August 15 2016

okay yall just to start off by saying that i am alright in the flooding!! there was no harm or accident taht fell upon me during the storm. actually there wasnt really any storm where i was! so i got some good news that i would love to share with yall. after a year of praying for it i have finally been able to have the oportunity to be companions with one of my favorite missionaries in the entire mission!! my good friend elder bean!! and plus the area i am in is in the new orleans zone. although its not in new orleans i still technically made it into new orleans so that is cool! the only downside is that here in morgan city there is literally nothing. it is the exile of the mission haha. so at least im with a companion that i get along with really well!! there isnt much to report on this week because of the storm, our mission has been on lockdown the entire time weve been down here so that is not fun. anyways i gotta go now. love yall! elder horrocks ps my address is 207 trevino st apt #1 berwick,la 70342

Tuesday, August 9 2016

well this weeks email is going to be pretty short because i dont really feel like emailing the big group email! sorry yall. we got transfer calls today and i heard the news that i will be getting transferred. so it looks like i will not be dying here in hammond. so thats dumb. but whatever. i only got 12 weeks left. please pray with me that i get sent down to nola for my last two transfers. ill email yall on wednesday when i find out wehre i am. and maybe a little longer email. love yall! elder horrocks

Monday, July 25 2016

okay yall first off i just want to say happy pioneer day!! yesterday we had a pot luck dinner after church and it was the best food ever!! this area is seriously going to make me so fat!! we get fed here like every day and it is not helping my six months to sexy!! also little fact for yall. i have 100 days left today!! its not like im counting down though! anyways this week was a real hot week!! but it was actually pretty dry! it hasnt really rained a lot here this week which is nice because that means its not as humid but in reallity it still is really humid! this week we were under heat advisory because it was like 115 degrees everyday!! i cant really think of anything to say this week but that the church is true!! oh i thought of something!! there is a member here and he is the most Bad A person ever! he was one of the first black navy pilots in the world and he is actually a civil rights hero!! anyway he was telling us a story about how he was fighting in nam and he got shot down and as he was parachuting down this guy was shooting at him and when he landed the guy came up to him and stabbed him through the chest with a bayonette and while he was getting stabbed he shot the guy and killed him! and he mentioned after that the whole time he was falling and stuff his right leg was on fire! its also cool because his grandson is one of our investigators so we get to see him often! well thats about it for me this week yall! love yall! elder horrocks

Monday, July 18, 2016

Monday, July 18 2016

well this was a crazy week!! we got to go to nola this week and it was so cool because literally all my friends that are still on the mission are down in nola so it was so cool getting to see them all!! but it was also sad because it will probably be the last time that i see them until i get home or until they get home!! we went on exchanges this week with the dl and i was with elder davis in a little town called amite and it was a really nice exchange. elder davis and i ended up having a conversation that was totally spirit led and it helped both of us with some questions and problems we were struggling with and it was really cool because we got it all cleared up! while we were on exchanges we met this family. and they have a son who lost half his brain due to brain cancer and he was the funniest kid i have ever been around! he reminded me just like my boy hayden nickel! we were playing skipbo with them and i was taking a little too long to finish my turn and he looked at me and asked if i even know how to count! haha i told him of course i know how to count i just dont kno wwhat to do!! so later in the game i was talking and he was all like "you sound like a man!" and i responded in a low voice "its because i am a man!" and he just laughed and then said "real men know how to count!!" i was literally dying of laughter! it was the funniest thing ive heard yall. so yesterday i had to give my third talk in church this transfer. and for all yall that arent aware... there have only been three sundays this transfer. and it was really cool because i was speaking with a member from the stake high council and he told me that im free to talk about whatever i want so i chose to talk about how the gospel blesses families. and that is the exact same thing he talked about as well! it was so cool because neither of us knew that we were going to be talking about the same subject. its crazy how the spirit works like that. one more thing. i know this is too early to be thinking about it but i have already found the guy who is going to cater my wedding reception. his name is bro ron abel and he is literally the best cook in the entire world. hes one of my favorite members ive met here in louisiana. i think i ate my favorite meal yesterday at his house. love yall so much and i cant wait till we can meet again! hanging out with the families here really reminds me of all the times we would just sit around someones house and just conversate and i cant wait to do that again!! once again thanks for all the prayers and crap! especially right now with the shootings and stuff. elder horrocks

Monday, July 11, 2016

Monday, July 11 2016

okay well if yall arent aware of the recent events here in louisiana there was two white police officers who shot a black guy and now there are a whole bunch of riots and shootings going on here. sometimes it can be pretty scary but we know the lord protects his servants. (just not stupid) so because of the situation we have a special curfew and have to be in before the sun goes down. its like super crazy out here. everyone is talking about it! but on saturday elder arellano and i had a very spiritual lesson with one of our investigatros neil and it was really nice. so neil has been an investigator for like 5 years now and has always had a problem with joseph smith and the authority of the priesthood and so we had a member come with us to kinda throw down on him. and it was exactly what he needed. bro calmese used the best scriptures in the bible and dc to show neil that there actually needs to be authority to use the priesthood. it was super spiritual and very cool. dang i also gave a talk at church yesterday and i didnt prepare it at all haha i was so nervous! it was about how members can work with the missionaries. all the missionaries had to do it and i have more time out on my mission than all the three others that serve in my area (my comp and the sisters) so when i went up to speak i was like unlike these other guys i have been a missionary for about 21 months so ive been around the block a couple times and then i just shared some of the stories i have gained from seeing member missionary work. alrighty dudes i gotta go! love yall!! elder horrocks

Tuesday, July 5, 2016

Tuesday, July 5 2016

howdy yall! well we had transfers this week and if yall didnt know i got transferred to my new and hopefully last area!! im in hammond louisiana and its an awesome place! the members here rock when it comes to feeding the missionaries man! i havent had to make my own food ive bought yet! so that means we get a lot of food! imma gain a lot of weight here yall. ive got a horrible memory but some highlights from the week. the members here feed us. they feed us everyday. i have never had that. we had a ward party yesterday and it was a pancake breakfast and it was so good and fun! we translate for sacrament meeting and we sit at the front and it makes me feel like im a professional because we have a whole mic setup and everything. we went to these members house last night for the fourth and i literally felt like i was part of their family. there are more missionaries in this area so we are not the only ones for pday. there is a family who has a gian, and i mean giant, jungle jim and we are going over to play on it today haha. also that family is awesome! the kids gave me their guinea pigs to hold and dress up right as soon as i walked in and it reminded me of the cuteness haha. also i think my address is 15043 woodstone dr #247 hammond, la 70401 there are some pictures the family took but they didnt send them to me so ill make sure that we can get them on next pday! i love yall!! elder horrokcs

Tuesday, June 28 2016

well i gotta make this email short because we got to go pack! we got the news today that i am getting transferred out of new iberia and i have mixed emotions. i dont have any clue where i am going to go but im praying that it is somewhere down in new orleans! but you never know. hopefully its still in a car though. summer is heating up! elder richardson is going home thursday and its crazy to think that i am where he is at when he came into new iberia!! time is going by so fast guys!! but it still feels lke november is never going to get here!! like i said im getting transferred so i will be changing my address so dont send anything!! (if you were planning on it). words cant really explain how cool a mission is. it is the extreme of all the emotions all bundled up in one!! love yall and thanks for all the support! elder horrocks i promise next weeks email will be better!!

Tuesday, June 21, 2016

Monday, June 20 1016

well guys. like i say every week! this week was crazy!! elder richardson and i had to make another trip to baton rouge this week for our ZTM which was really good! we talked all about how the atonement could help us out in our missionary efforts. okay well these qeeks go by too fast for me to remember anything cool or funny or other crap like that for me to share so i dont know what to write! i guess what im going to talk abiouut this week is the clouds here. they are so crazy! we will be driving down the roads and i just get lost in the clouds. they look so fake here. like someone painted them in the sky! one thing that i though was real cool was something that one of the senior couples said before he left. he said that when the second coming is at hand jesus will come from the clouds of louisiana and if any of yall get the opportunity to see them you would agree. they are the closest thing you will ever get to seeing heaven in this life. shout out to my dad real quick. love that guy. thats all i need to say! love yall so much! i dont have any pictures. elder horrocks!

Monday, June 13 2016

well this was a crazy week! we went to bato rouge this week for a mission confrence because elder kopichke from the area came down to give us some councling and it was awesome! he talked about how we can submit our will to the lord more and how we can use members to quadrouple our baptisms this year so it seems pretty cool! also the lomas family that we baptized last month moved to texas this week so that was real sad to say goodbye! we spent all of friday with them helping them move their stuff into the truck and i got really sunburnt but it was alright necause now i have a nice tan haha. thats about it for the week plus i was dymb and didnt email until last minute so now we have to go! love yall and thanks for all yall do for me!! elder horrocks

Tuesday, May 31, 2016

Tuesday, May 31 2016

well i dont have much time to talk this week because of the holiday and all that stuff. but just wanted to share a story for yall! elder richardson and i were sitting at a buffet on saturday when we get a call from our mission president. and usually we think what we did wrong because president usually doesnt call unless youre in trouble. so we answer the phone and started to ask us questions about how the sisters in our area are doing and all that stuff. so long story short he tells us that he is going to emergency transfer them out of the area and so a couple hours later the sisters called us and told us they were leaving and a couple hours after that it was just us!! and here is the worst part! the sisters were supposed to give a talk in chruch on sunday and since they left before elder richardson and i were now incharge of doing it! it was the worst! usually i dont mind talking but this one was a very broad topic so i couldnt pin point what i wanted to talk about so i just wrote a couple of bullet points and end up talking about how we need to keep a chirst centered family for about 30 minutes! it was actually a pretty cool experience! well thats all i can talk about this week! sorry i didnt have time! love yall! elder horrocks! p.s. some letters would be real cool to see in a mailbox sometime!! love yall!

Monday, May 23, 2016

Monday, May 23 2016

well this week i ran my first district meeting and it was so akward! i couldt really think of what i had to do so we all just like went with the flow. i know i said last week that this email would be better but i cant really think of anything that happened this week. it was a pretty slow week. but one cool thing was we were doing our laundry at bro stanleys house and he took us out to the port of iberia where he works and we got to see some boats that have big giant jacks and when you want to park the boat the jacks will go down into the water and jack the boat out of the water! and if elder richardson sends me his pictures i will send them well yall. i dont kno whwat else to say other than i love yall! its crazy how fast this month is going by. by the time we all realize it i will be home!! its crazy! love yall! elder horrokcs

Tuesday, May 17, 2016

Monday, May 2, 2016

Monday, May 2 2016

dang yall this week was INSANE!!!! first off we had some great dinner at the davis's! they are the coolest family ive met on my entire mission! they are from vernal and actually know grandma and grandpa! and then on wednesday it was raining pretty hard snd we had service planned with one of our investigators and when we called to cancel we asked us if we wanted to go to a seafood restaurant! and it was so good! alright now time to start with the real deal! so as most of yall know we were supposed to have a baptism this past week. well we did! it was the lomas family, a family of five and we had the craziest experience ever! so like most of yall know the whether down here has been pretty bad. it has rained a lot and the new iberia area is prone to flooding. anyways we were supposed to have our district leader (elder joubert) come up from laffayette to interview the family and when we woke up on saturday the clouds were looking pretty crazy. anywasys. it started to rain harder than ive ever seen rain in my entire life! it was worse than the tornado we went through last year! so withing about 30 minutes the streets in the area were flooded up to our knees! since we were away from our apartment at the time we were stranded on a island in the parking lot of a auto shop and we had to park the car and walk to our apartment! anyways, we had to postpone the interview until later that night,so we waited until 6 for the DL to come up and do the interview and as we were doing the interviews we were planning on just the girls getting dunked rather than the father as well but he told us that he wanted to be dunked as well!! it was such a cool experience! so we got the interviews done and we had someone who didnt really pass the interview so she needed to be interviewed by our mission president the next day! so we wake up sunday morning to the exact same rain! but luckily our mission president showed up to church safely! so as he was doing the interview we stared to go fill up the font and when we went to look at it it was full of poopy sewage water!! and it was filling up still! there was a break in the pipes and the water was comiing up out of the drain!! so we called the laffayette building and told them to start to fill up their font because we are coming down! so we got to laffayette and i had the wonderful opportunity to perform the ordinance to the father the oldest daughter and the middle daughter and it was such an awesome experience! and then we did the confirmations and it was so crazy confirming someone and giving them the holy ghost! and in spanish as well!!well thats about all i got for yall this week! im so excited to skype next week!! my church gets out at 12:30 here and i will be home to skype at like 1ish. ill be able to text yall and let yall know what time ill be on for sure. love yall! thanks for all the prayers and stuff!! especially for the lomas family! keep praying for them! the father alex is struggling finding a job right now. love elder horrocks! ps my address is still 1001 e dale st apt #1010 new iberia, LA 70560.

Monday, April 18, 2016

Monday, April 18 2016

well this week was a pretty good one! it still amazes me how fast time goes by each week! so there is a family who feeds us every sunday night and they have a guy who comes over each week whos name is grandpa bill. he is not a member of the church or their family. just a family friend. so we were talking to him last sunday about us doing some service for him. i have been dying for some service oportunities and we have had very little here in new iberia. so after a while he told us taht he needed his gutters cleaned out. so we scheduled for wednesday and i told him i would call him that morning. well it was raining that morning and when i called him he said no to the service but invited us to go to lunch with him. so we went out to lunch and the rain stopped and so we went over to his house and cleaned out his gutters. and boy was that fun! his guters were so dirty and gross! so after we got all the leaves out and the junk that was clogging it i got to use a preasure washer and wash out al the rest of the dirt and it was so much fun! and for the more spiritual side of the email i want to talk about the girls we are going to baptize! we went over on thursday and talked about the plan of salvation and after we went out and played some volleyball with them! it was so much fun that we decided to play some more on saturday. so we played some on saturday and then taught them the commandments and p;ayed a good game of "no rules" volleyball. anyways i cannot think of anymore things to say. hope yall have a good week! see yall later! elder horrocks

Monday, April 11, 2016

Monday, April 11 2016

hey yall! this week we had transfers and elder richardson and i survived another transfer! so we are together for one more transfer at least. he goes home next ransfer though so who knows? i might kill him off!! this week was a really busy week and we were exhausted all week! so on wednesday we went over to go see miss pat and when we went over that morning she told us that we were going to have a crawfish boil later htat night and that we need to come over later! so we went over later that night and ate some great crawfish and shrimp! it was probably the best ive had! usually the big ones are fat and messy but these ones that we had this night were nice and clean! and then saturday is the other day i want to talk about. we woke up that morning and i was wondering what im going to eat for breakfast that morning. so as i was warming something up in the microwave we got a call from our good friend miss pat! she told us that she was making us breakfast and so we went over and ate some pancakes with sausage, eggs, and grits! it wass the best breakfast ive had on the mish!! then later that day we went to this youth spiritual revival thing in one of the parks and elder richardson gagve a little speach to the people that were there! it was a lot of fun and im looking forward to going there again. we do it once a month. alright ell thats about it for this week! i hope yall know i love yall! thanks for all the prayers and blessings yall send my way! i would send pictures but i lost the charging chord to my camera and cant charge it right now. so i cant take pictures. hope yall have a good week! talk to you later!

Tuesday, April 5, 2016

oh my goodness confrence was so good!! i honestly dont think i can say i had a favorite! during hollands talk when he first started he was going like "do you not know... and when he paused we all thought he was going to throw down and call everybody to repentance and stuff like that. then he goes on to tell us how much they love us! it was so funny! and then he said that he has two problems and we were like okay heres the throw down. and he said that he was between us and our ice cream! it was so funny! then we were really craving ice cream and when confrence ended brother stanley went over and opened the freezer and there was a bunch of blue bell ice cream!! it was so good! i would say brother stanley has to be the biggest blessing here in new iberia. that guy is the best man ever! one of the manliest men on the planet. he can do anything!! so for confrence brother stanley had us over to watch it with him and on saturday we went and got these huge sausage links and made some crazy hot dogs, and on sunday for the first time in SEVENTEEN!! (holy crap guys ive been out for seventeen months today!!) for the first time in seventeen months i had my first steak! and it was the best! we had steak, deviled eggs, mashed potatoes, and alligator sausage for dinner and it was the best dinner ever man!! i ate so much i was about one sudden movement away from puking! this week was a long one due to the fact that everything i saw reminded me of my rc planes and cars in one way or the other! thats one of the things i miss the most thats for sure! i just want to do rc again! dang so we have this family that is being baptized on the 23 and they are awesome! its a family of 4 girls and they are so faithful and ready! the moms name is aurora and she was married to a member of the church for 9 months, then he pased away. but she is always telling us how much she loves the church because it reminds her of her husband and how nice he treated her! and her 3 daughters are like 14,11, and 8 and they are so fun! the oldest one was pretty shy at the begining but shes really opened up to us and now we even have our own secret handshakes. well thats about all i got for this week! love all yall! thanks for the love and all stuff yall do for me that i am unaware of because i am not there to witness it happen!! love yall!! see you in 7 months!

well i guess i better start to type this email before we leave! this week was pretty slow. due to a couple medical accidents the work was short lived this week. my companion elder richardson had a severe allergic reaction to some fire ants, which put us in the hospital for like 27 hours! so elder richardson and i went over to a part member/less active house on sunday to check up on them and see how they are doing. anyways they started to remodel their backyard and its been forever since i did yard work so i asked if we could help out. so we go over to their house on tuesday to start helping and we just go and throw some dead grass into a giant pile. then we started to cut some of the live grass. (this isnt like lawn grass, its tall pampas grass) and as we are cutting the live grass we cut into 1- a wasp hive, and 2- a GIANT fire ant hill! anyways i had a big problem with them back in chalmette so i didnt want to deal with them again. (and kinda ran away screaming like a little girl...) yeah everyone was laughing at me. anyways, we just work through them. yeah we got bit but not as bad as we thought. but then sister neilson was like look at elder richardsons face! it was all swollen up and we started to make fun of him because he looked like will smith from hitch, then we look at his arms and his arms have like turned into one big hive!! so we take him to the urgent care down the street, and it just kept getting worse and worse! so he had to use his epi pen. haha and then when we pulled up to the instacare he ran into the building and everyone he saw he was begging them to help him. kinda reminded me of mom when she freaks out haha. it was funny but serious at the same time. so i was in charge of all the paperwork and the nurse who i was doing it with was like super mega pretty! so now elder richardson and the sisters always act like they are injured so they can say we need to go to instacare. haha. anyway, as we were there the nurses told us that he was getting worse so they called the ambulance and the ambulance came and picked us up and we went to the ER! it was so cool! i got to ride passanger of the ambulance! haha i was waving to all the people in traffic, so much fun! we got to the er and i did a lot of more paperwork and all that other stuff and just sat there as i waited for the okay to go in. okay well we were hoping we didnt have to stay the night but that was not the thing. we stayed the night and it was the worst! neither of us got any sleep because i was on a stupid couch and elder r had a whole lotta addrenaline and so that was that! we got around to the morning and by like 2 the doctors told us we were free to go! we are all good now and ive caught up on my sleep! so love yall and hope yall had a happy easter! elder horrocks

i literally dont know where the time is going. it seems like mondays come and go in hte blink of an eye! this week we had a little easter activity at the church for the primary and so we were incharge of hiding the eggs. we had hundreds of them! i thought the kids were going to take forever to collect them all. but in only like 5 minutes flat they had them all cleaned out! even the ones i thought they werent going to be able to reach! some how they managed to get them!! and there was this little boy named abram, that kid is like my best friend man! we were hanging out after eatcing the candy and he gave me all of his candy! ha it was so funny he called himself the momma bird and i was the baby. sometimes he would put the candy in his mouth and then give it to me like he was a momma bird. dont worry, i didnt really eat them! then yesterday the sisters were in charge of teaching the children about missionaries and missionary work in primary and they gave them all ties and name tags to write their names on them and abram told the sisters that he wanted to be elder horrocks!! it was so cool! he reminds me jsut like max hudson man! one of the coolest kdis i know! also judd player sent me a package of some rootbeer milk!! that was the coolest package ive gotten on my mish! i totally forgot about those until like last week, i was thinking about it and how much i loved it and then like 3 days later i got a package from judd and he sent me 3 of them!! love yall so much!! easter is coming real close! please try to remember the real reason why we celebrate easter. im trying to recognize all the blessings of the atonement this week and i would like to ask all yall to do that as well. here is the link to a cool easter video that the church came out with. not sure if yall have seen it yet https://www.mormon.org/easter

well this week was crazy! it went by so fast! even though we got stuck in the rain a lot. dont worry we are okay! there was a lot of rain thats for sure!! although we are okay doesnt mean the town is, new iberia is notorious for flooding. and when it rains it doenst just pour. it floods. the main story for today is about the best family here in new iberia! the davis's. so we were over at their house on wednesday for dinner and we were playing a board game which involved me being in a staring contest, so while i was doing that one of the guys who was over there told me that if i really wanted to win i could use his glass eye. i kinda just laughed it off... then we were at diner and i asked if he actually had one. he did. he took it out. he let me hold it. it was so gross but so cool at the same time!!

not sure what to say about this week. we did a lot of tracting and had really no success out of it. its kinda sad how the people reject the message so quickly! it makes me feel bad for all those poor souls! umm so we are teaching this lady named miss pat. she is so cool!! she knows literally everyone in new iberia and she is the coolest lady ever! she is my mom away from home, she even calls us her sons! so anyways we have her on baptism date for the 26 of march!! she is getting pretty excited! oh i also got my haircut. finally. ill send some pics! well thats about all i can think of. love yall so much!! send pics of the jeep!! and to all who read this send letters *cough* cash or gift cards *cough* love yall!!

ey mom hows it going? not much to talk about this week! i havent had enought ime to really get to know my companion yet so i dont know! all i know that he is hilarious and he is crazy! he is like six five and really tall. yesterday we were tracting and we tracted into this house of this asian guy and he came outside and we introduced ourselves and hes told us that he has his own religion and that hes not interested. so elder richardson asked him if we could just give him a pamphlet to read and he accepted it, so i asked him if we could just go over the pictures and explain a couple things. and he agreed! so we started to teach him the restoration and his interest level went from like none to very and when we were at like the spiritual high point of the lesson his wife came out and you could tell she was not interested at all. so we were asking him if we could come by some other time to give him a book of mormon and he was just about to say yes but his wife just said "no we have our own bible and we dont need any more" so i asked if we could pray before we leave and the lady was just like no. shes the first lady that ive met on my mission who has denied a prayer!

Tuesday, February 16 2016

hey mom sorry for the lack of emails. two weeks ago i had the email written out and everything i just forgot to hit send i guess. and last week the computers shut off and when they came back on the email website thingy wasnt working anymore! but this week was pretty good! we went on exchanges this week and during the exchange elder jensen and i went down to the very outskirts of our area to contact one of our referrals. as we were walking up to the house he was standing outside, so i thought to myself (because he looked a little white trash) that this guy wasnt really going to be interested. so we walk up to him and i asked him if his name was kevin and he said yea. so i introduced myself to him and told him that we raan out of bibles but we have a book of mormon for him and told him we would bring a bible back to him when we get more bibles. we eventually ended up having a great talk about the importance of families and moral values! i hope yall had a nice valentines day! for us it was pretty nice, we had a baptism in the branch! one of the primary kdis turned 8 so he got baptized. im really bad at taking pictures but im doing good! not much really to complain about. elder lisonbee is getting transfered out to a new area for his last one so that means i will be getting a new companion. its always stressful getting a new companion and especially if you are taking over an area! so pray that ill get a cool comp and that ill be able to know what to do! love yall! thanks for all the prays and crap! elder horrocks oh yeah also one of the members came up to me on church and told me that ive been one of the most real missionaries hes seen in a while! so thats pretty cool!

this week was full of driving and my butt still hurts from all the sitting!! so this week we had zone confrence in baton rouge and so we needed to drive there! anyways there was a big big accident on the freeway and we were stuck in the same spot for an hour and a half! so we ended up showing up to the confrence 2 hours late! we got there just in time for the missionary broadcast thing and that was pretty cool! didnt really learn much though, we spent 15 months talking about the same stuff. haha funny story, we were going to chic fil a for pday lunch and i was telling everybody about how i used to get free chic fil a and no one really believed me, so i ordered the usual number one sandwich. so i paid for it and was waiting to recieve my delicious sandwich. next thing you know she brings it out to me. now we are waiting for elder lisonbees sandwich (he orded a spicy chicken) and the lady brings out another number one and is like are you collin (yeah i use my first name, it sounds nice) and i was like yeah. she then hands me a second sandwich and i told her that i already had one but ill keep this one also, she just laughs and walks away! so even without the free coupon cards i somehow still end up to get free chic fil a! i dont know if you remember me telling yall about how i have this feeling i need to move to Minnesota. but i have increasingly large fan for the Minnesota vikings! i knew marshal was my favortie character from how i met your mother for more than one reason! well thats my time folks! thank you ill be here till november! elder horrocks

things are going good here in new iberia! its hard to believe ive almost been out for 15 months!! time literally flies by. its unbelievable. it feels like by tomorrow we will be at disneyland again!! going through the new star wars land! i didnt like toon town anyways. so a little bit about new iberia. its a small town and everyone knows each other. there are a lot of sugar cane fields and the tobasco factory is right here on avery island. so im trying to make a trip to get grandpa some Tabasco. they got a few flavors that you can only get at the factory. it can also get pretty dangerous here. we dont work in the nicest neighborhoods. so we tend to watch where we go, especially at night. there is this lady we teach, her name is miss patt, and she literally runs the streets. she is like the mom for everyone here so the fact that we are some of her favorite people help us out a lot. she has definitely been a blessing to us! the people are all real nice here though. lots of old people, and they love us because we dont act like the kids out there. they like how we try to not act like the world. its been real nice here though, i love the people here. just wish there was more spanish. not a lot of spanish people live out in the country. loving it out here. elder lisonbee and i are virtually the same people so we get along really well! and pertaining to requests for the package.. ive been really missing my rc cars and planes so if you could send those out that would be awesome!! ha love yall! elder horrocks

dang this has been one crazy week. so after being in nola for 5 transfers i have been sent up to the country where all we have are sugar cane fields and dangerous neighborhoods. not really much to talk about for this week. elder lisonbee and i are going to have way to much fun this transfer haha. the one thing i really have to share this week is this so we had stake confrence this week and i am back in the baton rouge stake so i got to see all the people that i served with/around back when i was in baton rouge! it was a lot of fun talking to the members because they all remembered me! but the coolest part was seeing this lady named denia, elder caldwell and i found her back when we were in chalmette and she moved up to baton rouge. anyway long story short the missionaries taught her in baton rouge and she ended up getting baptized with her whole family!! her husband gave the closing prayer at the saturday night session!! it was really cool seeing the fruits of your labor while you are out here struggling!! love yall! wouldnt mind some welcome letters or packages into the new area!! elder horrocks ps 1001 e dale st apt 1010 new iberia LA, 70560
